Love Given, Life Received

These words were spoken by Jesus during a nighttime conversation with Nicodemus, a respected religious leader searching for truth. Some days we measure ourselves by our wins and losses—how well we parented, how productive we were, how faithfully we prayed. On those days, our peace rises and falls with our performance. But Jesus anchors us in a different truth: before you ever proved yourself, God loved you and gave His Son for you. The gospel is not God saying, "Try harder and I'll love you." It is God saying, "I love you; receive what I have given." Believing is more than mental agreement; it is entrusting yourself to the One who was given for you. It looks like opening your hands where you've been clenched in fear. It sounds like praying honest prayers instead of perfect ones. It feels like resting in a love that won't let go. Today, return to the center. Let God's love define your worth, not your feelings or your record. Receive the gift again: confess where you've been trying to earn what has already been given, thank Jesus for bearing what you could not, and take a simple step of trust—obey the nudge to forgive, to speak hope, to serve quietly—because loved people love people. Eternal life begins not when you escape this world but when you welcome Christ into every corner of ordinary life. The more you behold His love, the more your heart learns to rest, and the more freely you will give what you have freely received.
