Trust the Path

Wisdom begins where self-reliance ends. Solomon contrasts trusting Yahweh with leaning on our own limited perspective. To “acknowledge” God is to know Him in every sphere—inviting His character, counsel, and commands into our choices. The promise isn’t a problem-free road but a straightened one: God removes the crookedness of confusion, aligns our steps with His will, and guides us forward in clarity and integrity.

We all face crossroads—decisions about work, relationships, health, and time. In those moments, our instincts often grab for control: analyze more, plan harder, fix faster. Proverbs 3 gently redirects us: trust with all your heart, refuse the crutch of your own limited understanding, and acknowledge God in everything. Trust is not passivity; it’s a posture. It looks like pausing to pray before answering the email, inviting Scripture to shape the budget, asking wise counsel before making the move, and choosing obedience even when outcomes are unclear.

“Acknowledge Him” means God is more than a Sunday consideration. He is Lord over calendars and conversations, motives and money, margins and ambitions. As we submit each sphere to Him, He makes our path straight—not necessarily easy or quick, but honest, purposeful, and aligned with His heart. The straight path is the way of integrity: small obedient steps that keep pointing in the right direction.

If your road feels tangled today, begin where you are. Name the knot. Offer it to God. Ask, “What is the next faithful step?” Then take that step. Over time, a thousand small acts of trust become a well-traveled, well-guided way. God delights to direct those who delight to depend on Him.
